Excuse me

Luke 14:18

18 “ But they metformin hcl dosage all alike began to make excuses…”

What is our first response when we want to get out of a situation we don’t want to be part of? We make excuses.

In college, I have encountered so many people who have shared the Gospel to me. I have also rejected many because during that time I was thinking that I already know Jesus Christ, I don’t want to hear it again and I don’t want to be converted. And what I usually do is, I hold out my hand as if to say, “talk to the hand.” Have you ever done that to someone? What I do is raise my hand in front of me and like crossing a street, with firmness and with no words I make a “STOP” sign for them to not continue or just to say “stop right there mister.”

Many have tried to share the Gospel to me, but during that time I had more important things to do or to learn. In this verse, Jesus talks about a parable of a Great Banquet. And in this banquet, He invited so many guests, but when everything was prepared, everybody started to make excuses. The excuses were like this, “v18 I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me,” and another said, “v20 I just got married can’t come.” And so what He did was, He called His servant and invited others guests from the streets, roads and country lanes, but not the previous guests who were invited.

I realized that in this parable, many were invited but a few responded. Many were chosen but a few accepted.

During my 2nd year in college my girlfriend became part of a bible study. She enjoyed it so much that she invited me to come. I said, “No, I have projects to finish.” She persisted in inviting me but I said, “No, I have a class to go to.” In my mind, is this the same people who tried sharing the Gospel to me? And now my girlfriend has been tricked to come and respond to their “Jesus” story?

Weeks passed, my girlfriend continued to invite me and then one unimaginable thing happened. I didn’t have any excuse to make. I really had nothing to do and so I just told myself, “it’s just a bible study, what have I got to lose?” I went with her and met with the bible study group and then after the 2nd meeting I accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. What I realize is, Jesus loves us so much and is gracious enough that He didn’t just send messengers to invite us only one time but so many times. The only thing that Jesus really wants is for you to stop giving excuses and just hear Him out.

So how about you, what is your excuse? Why not listen to what Jesus has to say? What have you got to lose?

I am thankful for those people who persisted to share the Gospel to me because if not, just like in the parable, I would have been left behind and not be able to join in the Great Banquet that God prepared for us. To those who are faithful in sharing the Good News, continue because your labor for the Lord is not in vain.

Application:
If this metformin hcl 850 mg is your first time to read about the Gospel, “accept Jesus Christ” and you will be saved. If you are that Gospel-sharer who gave time in sharing the Good News, continue to do so, you might be surprised that the person you’ve shared with will also be used by God mightily.

Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, give us the opportunities to say yes to what you want us to do. Help us to obey and understand your direction in our life so that we will not miss out on your Will for us. Amen.”
