NOT A FAN

Luke 9:23

“ Then he metformin hcl 850 mg side effects said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

In the Gospels Jesus never seemed too interested in fans. Fans are simply defined as an enthusiastic admirer. For most of my childhood life I was a BIG fan of JESUS I was born in a Christian family and would attend Sunday school with a lot of enthusiasm. I was passionate and eager to worship God and people even admired me for such passion to the point that I was even given awards such as best worshiper. The problem was that I knew who Jesus was and I liked it, I was close enough to Jesus to get the benefits but not so close to require sacrifice. There’s got to be more than just going to church, praying when in a jam, and volunteering once in a while in a ministry.

There are just a lot of Christians who are enthusiastically admirers of Jesus, their FANS. But as you look into the gospels you discover that Jesus was never too interested in having fans what he wanted was followers. He wasn’t so concerned as to the size of the crowd that was with Him, He cared about the commitment of the people who followed Him. In this passage Jesus invites people to take up their cross and follow Him. It’s not enough just to be a fan. That until you completely surrender your life to Jesus Christ and give Him every part of you, you will never experience the real life, the true life that He wants you to have.

Some times we want to follow Jesus into heaven but didn’t necessarily want to take your cross with you. The invitation Jesus offered was an invitation to die to yourself and find your life in Him. When we moved from being a fan just an enthusiastic admirer to being a follower of Jesus Christ then that’s when we find the life He truly wants as to have.
